SUGAR DEADLOCK CONTINUES

CHELSEA MEN STILL IDLE. , SHORTAGE IN TARANAKI. The sugar shortage in Taranaki is becoming more acute than ever. No supplies have come to hand since August 13, and, no further shipments are in sight. New Plymouth grocers state that their stocks are almost depleted, and only very small amounts are served at one time, so as to make remaining stocks go as far as possible. A Press Association message received from Auckland last night says:— ; "The position of the sugar workers remains unchanged, and the men have not yet been able to resume work, which |*as interrupted by the strike. "The secretary of the Union stated toiday that officials of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company had informed him ■that probably the works would not be ready to resume operations for some days. "The hearing of the dispute in the Arbitration Court will be commenced on Thursday."
