Sussex beat Surrey, the latter having the worst wicket. Middlesex beat Somerset. Hearn in the second innings took five wickets for 28 runs Notts beat Kent in the first Innings. Yorkshire beat Essex. Wnddington took four wickets for 40 runs, and four for 32 Ithodes reeelred a split finger. Lancashire beat Clourester. The championship order is now: Middlesex Vorkshire, Lancashire, Kent, 'Surrey. In the hatting averages Hciidren is first, with 67Ilobbs second, 36, Hcarne, third, Bussell fifth' Makepeace ninth. In ..the bowling averages iihodes Is first, Woollcy second, Howell sixth, I'arkin eighth, Hcarne eleventh, and Waddlnuton thirteenth —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
