ARMOUR AND CO.'S LICENSE. ACTION OF T ARAN Alii FARMERS. At the annua! meeting of the Taranaki Farmers' Meat Company on Saturday, Mr. Wright brought up the question of the action of the Government iu refuting the license of Armour and Co., and he oxpressed his entire approval of the decision of the Government. fi« briefly sketched the methods adopted by the Meat Trust, who»e object wag to "collar our meat and sell it for what they please." The enormous capital, at their command enabled them to bear large losses for a few years, and thus create a monopoly, which meant that iti the- end farmers would obtain' very little lor their stock. He moved: "That this meeting expresses its approval of the action of Mr. Massey in refusing a license to Armour and Co." The motion was seconded by Mr. Marfell and carried, there being Ogjyone dissentient; HAWKE'S BAY PROTEST. By Telegraph.—Presa Association 1 . Dannevirke, Last Night. A large meeting of farmers from southern Hawke's Bay on Saturday carried tht following resolution with one dissentient: "That in the opinion of tfaig representative meeting of farmer* is .essential, in the interest of the tfW progress and development pf the Dominion, that the Government should take the necessary steps to stop Armour aad Co. and Vesty Bros., or any <tf tkeir subsidiary companies, from operating in the Dominion in any manner in connection with the freezing industry and the export of meat."
