Miss Flora M. Allan lias resigned the position of principal of the Otayo Girls' High School after thirty years' service at the school.
Captain Bark, who recently underwent' treatment, in the New Plymouth Public Hospital for appendicitis, has taken command of the Rimu until the Rnrair.i commences her running again betwetn Onehunga and this port. A cable from Ottawa says that MajorGeneral Burstall has been appointed In-spector-General, with the rank of Lieut.(leneral, of the Canadian militia, succeeding General Arthur Currie, who commanded the Canadians in France.
Mr. It. L. Spratt, of the firm of Spratt ami Brodie, Hawera, was yesterday admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court by his Honor Mr. .Tustico Salmond, Mr. P. O'Doa appearing in support of the application. Mr. S. Macalistcr and Mr. A. Coleman, of the firm of Spence, Rutherford, Maealister and Coleman, of Stratford, were admitted as barristers of the Supreme Court of New Zealand by Mr. Justice Salmond at yesterday's sitting of the Supreme Court. Mr. C. H. Croker appeared in support of the applications. The Rhodes Scholarship selection committee met at Wellington yesterday, Sir Robert Stout, the Administrator, presiding, and selected a candidate for tin special war scholarship offered by the Rhodes trustees. The four candidates were: Auckland University College, P. 0. Veale; Victoria University College, J. 15. Brodie; Canterbury University College, S. P. McCallum; Otago University, H. J. Ryburn. Mr. S. P. McCallum was selected.
