SUPPORT? FROM THE SOVIET. REMARKABLE DISCLOSURES. By telwranV'-Prtss Absd.—CoDyrtjlit. Recetvea August 20, a.m. London, August 19. The A<las;vaity has d«coded cypher message* jKSiising between TcMtcherin and LityinoS", discussing the best means of aesistins; the Daily Herald newspaper. Mr. George lansbury (the editor Of the Daily Herald), when visiting Moscow early in. 11)20, asked help to get newsprint. Tihltcherin finally instructed latvinoff to subsidise the Daily Herald by instalments, in order to maintain control of the paper, and to give the Herald Chinese bonds. Mr. Lansfoiry to-day denies the Herald ever received Chinese bonds, and says it sought help in getting news-print purely as a business matter, as English merchants are boycotting the Herald.— Aus.-N.Z. [The Daily Herald, which was established in London last year, is purely a Labor organ, wtth very distinct views on what are the rights of Labor. Its advent in Fleet Street aroused much interest, and a short life was predicted for it, but apparently the paper has reached its second year. An earlier attempt to eataWiali u. typScally Labor daily in London failed, and provided one of the greatest tragedies in Fleet Street, tvhich is tol&in Sir Philip Gibbs" "Street of Adventure." The editor of the Herald, Mr. George is a man of pronounced Socialistic views, and ihe gathered around him a staff of a sympathetic outlook, most of whom ntre attractive figure* in Fleet Street wearing vividly red ties, and who aired their views on labor v. capital with much freedom.]
