THE PRINCE
NO VISIT TO INDIA. DUKE OF CONNAUGHT TO GO, By Telegraph—preis Assn.—Cemlgbt. Received August 19.12.10 p.irtj London, August 17. A Royal proclamation announces that His Majesty's hope to send the Prince of Wales to India next winter cannot, unhappily, be realised, because the unceasing and devoted labors of the Prince of Wales in other parts of the Empire laid so heavy a! burden upon his strength that it is impossible for him at present to undertake, another .protracted and arduous journey, without assuredly endangering his health. The visit, consequently, must be postponed, but if he is recovered it is hoped the Prince of Wales will visit India during the winter of next year. Meanwhile in order to mark in a. special manner the momentous step India is now taking towards greater constitutional freedom, His Majesty is sending the Duke of to inaugurate the reformed Indian Legislatures, and to take part in ceremonies the Prince of Wales would have performed.—Eeuter Service. «
