AFTER MANY TRIALS.
CONVICTION IN PKNROSK FATALITY. By Tetegmth.—Proas Association. Auckland, Last Night. The trial of Alfred Thomas Percy Victor Dare, on a charge of having committed mischief at Penrose last January hy wilfully damaging a motor-car and a bicycle, was taken at the Supreme Court to-day. The charge related to the fatalitv at Penrose, when Air. Horton. who was riding a bicycle was knocked down by a motor enr and killed. It. was alleged' that Dare "borrowed" a motor ear, which was left standing outside the Opera House by the owner, aud that he drove it in a reckless manner. He. was originally charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of Horton, and after two trials was acquitted. The charge of mischief was then preferred against him, and another disagreement was recorded. At to-day's trial the jury returned a verdict of guilty of mischief, and sentence was deferred.
