On Wednesday, we sold by auction at KaupoKonui, on account of the estate of Francis Day, farm sundries and dairy herd. There was not a large attendance of buyers. At our Hawera yards, on Thursday, We re--port a good all round yarding. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd. (Stratford), report as follows: At Stratford on the 3rd inst. we had a good yarding, chiefly young cattle, which sold at full market rates. Empty heifers also' sold well, but dairy stock was not much enquired for. The prices leallsed were: Woolly hoggets, 27a to 28s Cd;. culls, 17s Cd; cull ewes, lis Gd; yearling steers, £3 17s Od to £4 10s; store cows, £4 lis, £5 10s, £6 16aempty heifers, £O, £7 10s, £7 13s «d, £8 ss; dairy cows £l2 to £l4; I.e. heifers, £l2 At Te Wera on the Bth Inst, we had a fair yarding, chiefly empty heifers, which sold well. Volzke, York Road, when everything was cleared at satisfactory prices. 6 HORSE SALE. On last Saturday, 7th Inst., Messrs. Cassldy, North and Co, held thoir first horse sale and offered over 100 horses in Tattersali's bazaar, Wanganul. There was a large attendance of the public notwithstanding that tho season Is scarely far enough advanced for the farmers to commence buying for their spring requirements. The majority of tho horses offered changed hands at satisfactory prices to the vendors, In fact In most cases at considerably above owners' reserves. The following were the ruling prices: Draughts £35 to £SO, better class half-draughts £l6 to £35 for good useful half-draughts broken to all work. Spring carters £l2 to £2B 10s, harness horses £lO to £32, hacks varied from £9 to £2O for good class, and £5 to £lO for Indifferent lines. Children's ponies averaged £lO to £l2. At the same time we sold gigs, sets harness and lot of saddles and old harness, all of which were in keen demand and sold at high prices. From the number of buyers l"'esent on the look out for heavy horses there seems to bo a scarcity jusl now, the owners of this class of horse are going to get higher prices this season than has been realised for some time. Our next Bale takes place as advertised on the 28th. of this month. In Wanganul.
