One deposit may be described as a slaty formation with polyhedral toleavage, offering exceptional facilities for reduction into road metal, etc. The second deposit of the same stone, showing in two-faces on the opposite side.of the hiQ, is evidently one enormous stratum of solid rock to depths unknown. It is cs*veniently joined so as to greatly facilitate quarrying operations. This building sUMa appears in two very pleasing colours—Light Grey and Brown—both of which fee- 4 beautiful and lasting polish. The quantities both for road metal and build.B(| done an practically inexhaustible, and the contour of the deposits and surMttnfiing land is such as to provide a working scheme by gravitation. Hie limestone deposits are in close proximity to the area containing the trachyte atone. Samples have been tested by the Government Chemist, who commends these deposits as most suitable for converting into ground limestone for agricultural purposes, showing as they do up to 97 per cent, of Carbonate of Lime. For transportation facilities a branch line is to be constructed: to make direct Wfcneetion between the property and the Government Main Trunk Line.
