PIANOFORTE RECITAL.
PERFORMANCE BY MISS LEATHAM. The performance to lie given at the Empire Theatre on Friday evening by the brilliant pianist, Miss Constance Leatham, is an event of importance in the musical world, as reports of previous recitals indicate that high artistic ability has been demonstrated by Miss Leatham. Speaking of a performance given at Wellington, a contemporary remarks: "She gave a programme of ;rreat variety such as only the most talented could attempt, and displayed remarkable stamina and virtuosity in the execution thereof. She displays a masterly technique which showed that she had been a deep and serious student of her art." A Ohristchurch critic remarks: "Not only did Miss Leatham play the works with marked aecmacy, hut her interpretations were highly int'Testing. Her technical equipment was amazing in its development, and she played the whole programme without music; the memory feat w.cj something to marvel at." The proceeds of the local entertainment are to he devoted to the Girls' Hostel Fund, and the box plan is now own at Hoffmann's,
