COMPULSION IN LOANS.

OPPOSED BY BUSINESS MEN. By Teleeraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce endorsed the Canterbury Chamber's resolution: "That this Chamber strongly protests against the principle of compulsory loans for other than urgent war necessities, and considers the proposed action of the Government as a dangerous precedent, and contrary to all principles of British freedom and liberty." It was contended that compulsory loans would limit business enterprise. During the war they had not murmured at the Government's demands', but now the war was over they should think more of developing the country and increasing production.
