The "Council of Action" is holding daily sittings, and is privately issuing official statements. The Press proposal for the formation throughout the country of local council* was promptly carried out in industrial areas, and such bodies have already been formed in Sheffield, Plymouth, Gateshead, Northampton, Leicester, and elsewhere. Sub-committees have been appointed to carry out strike arrangements. The National Socialist Party approved a strike to prevent war, and rejected an amendment pledging every aid to the "Council of Action" on the grounds that that body might declare a Strike for the recognition of a Soviet Oivernment.—Aus.-NJS.
