BIG INCREASE IN REVENUE THE LINE TO INGLEWOOD. The takings of the New Plymouth electric tramways last month amounted to £1415, or £515 over the revenue of the same month of last year. The engineer (Mr. R. H. Bartley), says, ia his teport to the Council, that, the increase ia due largely to the, fihe weather experienced, and the heavy traffic on the Moturoa line. The electric department also experienced a busy . month) ft*®. number of new consumers connected being 60; and additions to existing installations 15. The engineer adds: "About the middle of the month the first shipment of iron bark poles for the Inglewood transmission line arrived by the Rakanoa from Australia, and the opportunity, was taken to rail these direct to Inglewood, from whence they have' been distributed along the route of the line, the last pole ■ being approximately half-a-mile, from Egmont Village. I understand that a further shipment of poles, and cross arms should be leaving Australia in approximately 14 days' time, , and these ..will be sufficient to complete the distanceaiid* allow us to get the-poles trimmed, rigged and erected, ready for the insulators and cable, I have no advice as yet as to the arrival of the insulators and .have arranged that the manufacturers be cabled- to urge the matter forward. The cable for this line is already in our store."
