BORING FOR OIL. . By Telegraph.—Prsss Association. Wellington, August 12. Help for the development of oil boring in the Hawlce's Bay. Provineo was sought by a deputation to the Prime Minister." The deputation compireed Mr. Mitchell (chairman of directors), and Messrs Redpaicii and Andrews, representing the Waipatfki Oil Wells Company. Tliey asked for a geological report and also a, subsidy. The bore at the wells is now down 30(10 feet, and there lias been no trouble with water. Mr. Massey promised to pend an officer of the Geological Department to report, and will place the matter of subsidy before Parliament. PALMERSTON SUPREME COURT: Palmerston N., August 12. .> In the Supreme Court William Woolley, on five charges of theft, including four bicycles, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and declared ah habitual criminal.
