Melbourne, August 12. A petition signed by 32,437 persons was presented to the House of Representatives protesting against the increase in members' salaries. An express train from Wouthbaggi to Melbourne collided with a motor car containing four men, at a level crossing near Kooweemp. Two of the occupants of the car were killed, and the others were injured. The engine and two carriages were derailed.
