DUTY ON DAIRY MACHINERY. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Mr. R. Masters (Stratford) stated In the House that he had received a, complaint from Toranaki regarding the manner in which the Customs Department assessed the duty on dairying machinery imported from Denmark. The Department was giving the kroner a value 2B per cent, in advance of the former value, and this charge operated unfairly against people Vho had bought machinery at c.i.f. prices in New Zealand. _ The Minister for Customs (Sir Wil* liarn Herries) asked for full information aud undertook to have inquiries made.
