The Repatriation Department has been advised by the chairman of the Australian Imperial Forte Canteens Funds Trust that it is proposed to provide out of their funds, assistance and benefits to widows, orphans, widowed mothers and other immediate dependants of deceased soldiers, and, to, seriously disabled soldiers, of the Australian Imperial Force. The funds consist of surplus moneys resulting from the A.I.F, conteens trading during the war, and amount to about £500,000. The benefits will be extended only to claimants in the above classes who are in real need of assistance. Any person desiring to make a claim on the funds should communicate with the district repatriation officer at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin, to whom full instructions have been issued. Fatally burned on her wedding eve through her nightdress having become ignited while she was sitting before the file writing letters, the funeral ,of Miss Janet Fairbairn took place in the old churchyard of Oults, Fifeshire. Sho was buried with her wedding dress, veil, and other bridal finery, and the ring was also placed in the coffin, Mr George Watson, who was to have been the bride.sroom, wag one of the pall-bearers.
