GENERAL ITEMS. By Telegraph—JVcss Assn.—-Copyright Received August 6, 10.35 p.m. Sydney, August 6 . The Government Statistician reports that food prices have increased 96 per cent, since 1914. The Progressive Party pasßed a resolution disapproving of any proposed increase in Parliamentarians' salaries. The Land newspaper has abandoned its appeal. The second peace loan of £25,000,000 has been successfully launched, The -Prince of Wales was amongst the earliest subscribers. The loan was also launched in other capitals. Melbourne, August 6. In the Senate, I\lr. "lillen announced that gratuity bonds woud be accepted as payment to the new peace loan. The House of Representatives read a second time the Industrial Peace Bill by 33 votes to 10.
