EVADING THE CUSTOMS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. Ruby Joseph, a Syrian woman, was charged at the Police Court with smuggling into New Zealand drapery and other goods of a total value of £6O, with intent to defraud the Customs by the evasion of the payment of duty. She was convicted and fined £45, and the goods were ordered to be forfeited.
