TO DEFEND WARSAW. BLOODLESS CAPTURE PREDICTED. WOMEN AMONGST WOUNDED. Received August 6, 9 p.m. Vienna, August 5. It b officially announced that the Poles have recaptured Brody. Large parties of wounded are arriving •t Warsaw, including some from the Women's battalion. Pfohibitio«,has been enforced throughout Poland. Preparations are being made lor • stubborn defence of Warsaw. Miliary experts consider the Bolsheviks will Undertake encircling movements, baking the actual capture of Waraaw a bloodless affair. The Polish armistice delegation has returned to Warsaw. It was permitted to re-cross the lines without incident. It is expected a second Polish delegation empowered to negotiate peace, will leave for Minsk tq-day. Hungary has formally offered assistance, and is prepared to send two infantry and two cavalry divisions. Though the terms of the Russian reply have not yet been published, it is •tilted unofficially that they are some\vhftt ambiguous, hut Russia declares her , willingness to negotiate a separate peace With' Poland, and to recognise Potions mast continue until properly accredited Polish parlementaires aTrive. Poland most be blamed for the delay, which she made no effort to. prevent. Russia is prepared to recognise tlie existing Russo-Polish frontier, and actually desired to improve thereon in favor of Poland. As regards the conference, it is understood Russia insists op separate Russo-Polish negotiations, though Russia is willing to participate in a Conference later regarding general peace.

The Petit Parisien states that an fcgreement made between Herr von 6ijnoflg, acting for the Berlin Government, ahd- the Soviet representative, Kopp, provides for economic and political help foi Russia by repairing railways, delivery of rolling stock, plant, machinery for mining, and' also medical supplies. With this help Russia anticipates she will be able to drive the Poles from the Dan tig corridor. The Soviet Will then insist on the admission of Germany to the "Peace Conference, and back up German interests. Kopp has departed for Moscow to socure .approval of tlie agreement— Aug. and N.z.
