LICENSING PROSECUTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, August 5. Judgment was given by Mr. Evans, S.M., 'to-(lay in a case brought by the police, against D. Dunstan for- allowing liquor to be consumed in Dnnstan's Hall during a social lield there by a Government department. The prosecution contended that the h?ll was part of the Dunstan restaurant and it relied on the definition of "licensed premises" in Section 4 of the Licensing Act. The Magistrate held that on the facts the hall' was not part of the restaurant. It was never open to the general public for meals and was separately let to persons who used and who had the sole right to occupy it for the time hired. He decided that no offence under Section 4 hatl been committed and dismissed the information. AN ILLEGAL OPERATION. 1 Dunedin, August 5. Helen Glegg, on a further charge of performing an illegal operation on Rose Williams, was found guilty with a strong recommendation to mercy. Sentence was deferred.
