RAILWAY WANTS.
DEPUTATIONS TO MINISTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, August 5. .A deputation of the Rotorua Railway League and Waiotapu settlers met the Prime Minister and Ministers of Landsi and Public Works, requesting the right to submit evidence before the commission regarding the extension of the Taupo Timber Company's line. Ministers stated that there was no ob:potion to this, but the commission was not set up to decide the main lino question. It was not suggested that the Taupo line would ever become a main line. Mr. Guthrie said the deputation would do no good by raising the question of rival Toutes, as this would only stir up Rangataiki settlers, whose claim was strong. One request by Mr. Hockly, M.P., for a commission tc decide whether the Roto-rua-Taupo line should be constructed was favorably received, but Ministers said that there was no hope of commencing the line in the immediate future.
