THE POLISH WAR.
RETREAT OF THE POLES. LOOTING BY THE INVADERS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Berlin, August 2. The Tageblatt's war correspondent gives a pitiful account of the retreat and weak resistance of the Poles. A mass of Bolshevik infantry has already reached Lomza, and is marching on Warsaw. The retreat of Brudenny's cavalry is only attributable to panic, as the Reds are now out of touch with their lines of communication and unable to resist a counter-attack. The invaders are looting extensively.— Times Service. BOLSHEVIKS' MAIN ATTACK, London, Aug. 3. The Bolsheviks' main attack is now directed on Lemberg, partly with a view to securing the rich oil wells in tbfe Baroslav region.—Times, POLISH DELEGATES RETIRE. London, August 3. A Moscow wireless message states that the Polish delegates were only furnished with the Polish command's authorisation to negotiate the armistice instead of mandates from the Polish Government, which the Russians consider essential. The Poles returned to Warsaw, But hope to renew the negotiations at Minsk on August 4.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
