A GIRL'S CRIME.
EIGHTEEN MONTHS' GAOL. By Teleirrapb.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A young woman, Agnes Elizabeth Mephan, was charged at the Supreme Court to-day with murdering her infant male child at Porirua, on or about June 9. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter, and added a strong recommendation to mercy. The accused was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment.
