THE MODERN "BLUEBEARD."
REVELATIONS IN PARIS CASE. LANDRU IS STILL SILENT, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.^Pgyrtght. Received August 1, 5.5 p.m. . Paris, July 30, It seems probable that the long drawn out magisterial inquiry into the charges concerning the murders o! more than a dozen women by the "Bluebeard" Landru are now reaching a point where Landru will forsake the policy of silence. Scientists who examined 250 fragments of calcined bones, reconstructed three skulls, live feet and live hanils. Reports of anatomical experts also show that the remains include forty-eight finger bones, but practically none of the larger bones of the trunk or limbs, Except three forearms. The experts five satisfied that! the remains in one case belong to women five feet four inches high. The indications are that the remains were reduced to fragments by means of a hatchet. '■ n analysis of two hundredweight o: ashes revealed proof of the presence of a percentage of phosphates, showing at least, twenty pounds weight, The bones had been destroyed by lire. 1 Landru suggests the bones were deposited in his garden in his absence. Landru's landlord has obtained an order ejecting him from his flat.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
