AUSTRALIAN NEWS.

POSTAL EFFICIENCY. By QVKeraph —Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 31, 8.55 a.m. t Sydney, July 31. The Post and Telegraph Association, replying to a commissioner's report on the Federal Public Service, warmly denies the truth of his conclusions and declares that ithe commissioner himself is responsible for the bureaucratic methods. The liald fact is that since the Commonwealth Government assumed control of the postal department, the service to the public has steadily deteriorated under a "penny wise pound •foolish" system of economy imposed by various political heads, until unable to meet the reasonable requirements of the public.—Aus.-N.Z.
