The following is the result of a shoot held by members of the Stratford Gun Club on Messrs Nelson and Green's property, East Eoad, yesterday afternoon: No. 1, six birds, twelve competitors.— P. Whittle (19yds), six birds, was first, and B. Green (14yds), A. Nelson (10 yds), G. Mitchell (10yds), and F. J. Tuke (13yds) tied for second. No. 2, twelve birds, twelve competitors.—P. Whittle (lflyds), W. D. Colson (13yds), and S. D. Coleman (15yds), witli eleven birds, and F. J. Tuke (13 yds) also shared in the stake. No. "i, twelve birds, eleven competitors). —This was the best shoot of the day. Competition was keen, four breaking eleven of the bi,rds, namely, V. Whittle (19yds), H. Harrison (17yds), F. Casey (14yds), and F. J. Tuke (13yds). ' No. 4, a similar competition.—B. Green (12yds) showed something of his old form, securing eleven birds, all with his first barrel; six tied for second, namely, F. Whittle (lflyds), H. Harrison (17yds) A. Nelson (14yds), S. D. Coleman (Uyds), F. J. Tuke (13yds), and W. D. Colson (12yds). Two box-sweeps were held, the winners being W. ©.Colson and F. Whittle. EGMONT CLUB SOCIAL. A most enjoyable social evening was ! held at the Egmont Club to-night, there being a large attendance of members and their lady friends. The first portion of the evening was taken up with a firstclass concert, items being contributed l>v Miss Rona Rino (songs), Mrs. Macdonald (songs), Mifis Dolores Wilson (whistling solos), Mr. A. B. Macdonald (songs), Mr. B. Bellringev (songaj, and Mr. Lovell (humorous items). Orchestral selections were provided by an orchestra consisting of Messrs C. H. Fox (piano), V. Leßter (violin), H. Lester (clarionette), C. Lowe (violin), H. Austed (violin), G. Dick (flute), and J. MeAlister (bass). At the conclusion of Ihe concert the chairs were moved aside, and the rest of the evening was devoted to billiards, in which the ladies took a prominent part, and to card games, supper being handed round by the members. During an interval in the proceedings, Mr. T. Lawson, president of *he club, expressed his thanks to nil who had accepted the invitation to be present, and said that the programme was the best that had yet been provided by the dub. On his suggestion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the performers by acclamation. GENERAL. • At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Mr. T. A. B. Charles Henry Moss, £4 13s, costs ss; Gordon and Gordon (Mr. T. O. Fookes) v. Thomas McDonald, £7 ,4s, costs Se; John George Buchanan (Mr. Macalister) v. Albert Sidney Simmons, £lO 14s 3d, costs 10s. In a judgment summons case, James o'Malley was ordered to pay Albert James Davey (Mr. King) the sum of £23 4s 6d forthwith, in default 23 days' imprisonment. Whilst playing in a football match at Toko yesterday, Mr. Eric Bayly, son of Mr. Charles Bayly, sustained an accident, his shoulder being dislocated. Dr. Gordon having been summoned from Stratford, the injury received attention, and Mr. Bayly is now making satisfactory progress. Another successful working bee was held on the showgrounds last Thursday, when good progress was made towards completing the new sheep pens. As this section is being extended, fresh material is necessary, on arrival of which it is intended to call for volunteers to finish the work under way. Very satisfactory response is being met with in answer to the Association's appeal for funds in connection with the erection of the cattle pavilion. It is hoped that farmers will give all the assistance possible, and let the committee see they have wholehearted support in their efforts to supply a much-needed want. For the second time within a week, the Stratford fire brigade received an alarm of fire shortly after half-past six to-night, the outbreak proving to be a chimney in the Stratford Club. The brigade was promptly on the scene, and the outbreak was subdued without difficulty.
KING'S THEATRE, STRATFORD.' BIG DOUBLE ATTRACTION TO-DAY. William S. Hart, the evcv-popular Thos. H.
