The popularity of boxing was manifested by the crowded attendance at the second tournament, which was conducted at the Empire Theatre last night under the auspices of the Taranakt Boxing Association, for the accommodation provided proved far too small. A capital programme of amateur and professional bouts was staged, and from the manner in which the audience voiced their approval, it is safe to aay that future tournaments will draw equally well. Everything went off without any hitch, save that there was a slight delay owing to Land, a contestant In the welter-weight contest,, falling to pass the doctor. The professional bout between Thompson and Brown was a very attractive and open contest, .which went the full distance, the points until the last three rounds being very even.
