BOXING.
THURSDAY NIGHT'S TOURNAMENT. Some of the outside amateurs who are competing at the tournament to be held in the . Empire. Theatre on Thursday night, have already arrived in town, and are putting In their final training. \ Some excellent bouts w\l be witnessed in the amateur eJuss, in the bantam weight, V. D.> Rolston and T. Chaplin should put up a good and fast exhibition. In the lightweight, A. Duggan, of Nonmanby, will be matched with J. Al'urphy. In the waiter weight, R. Land will meet P. O'Curroll, of Inglewood, and those who saw Land at the last tournament, will' look forward to tills bout. Then will come the heavy-weight, when two doughty fighters In C. F. Clifton and C. Volzko will bo Seen in a six round go, The tournament will conclude with the professional match for 50 sovereigns between Tommy Thompson and Prank Brown. Both these men are in the pink of condition, and both being fast and open fighters, this bout should be an exciting one. Both Thompson ami Brown 'have good credentials for rlug craft and will put up a hard go for the vecdict.
