NEW POSTAL RATES.
, ALL ROUND. INCREASES MADE. LETTERS TO COST TWO-PENCE, TELEGRAMS AT A SHILLINO. Information concerning the anticipated new postal and telegraphic rate*, representing increases in practically every direction, was received in New Plymouth on Saturday, and they will come into force on August 1. The following alterations are announced pn the authority ol the Postmaster-General:— LETTERS AND PAPERS. i Letters and letter-cards, Inland, front lid for 4oz. to 2d for 20z.; Australia, United Kingdom, United States, and csrtain other countries, from IJd to 2d. Postcards, inland, from Id to l%d, Late fee from Id to 2d> Packets (comprising commercial papers, hooks, and printed papers, pat tern and sample packets, and ÜB' registered magazines), inland, from It for the first 2oz. and id for each ad ditional 2oi, to IJd for each 4oz, up ti lib.
Registered magazines, inland, Au& tralia, Fiji, and eerta,in islands in thi Pacific, new rates of 2d for each copy, K not exceeding Boz., and 2d for each additional Boz. or fraction thereof. . Newspapers, inland, from »/ 2 d to Id. Fee for registration from 2d to Bd. Inland parcels from 4Jd to fld for the first pound. Fee for insurance of parcels, inland, 2d to 3d up to £2. Private letter boxes, from £1 to £1 10s -per annum. Private mail bags, £2 to £2 10s per annum. MONEY ORDERS. By post, .payable in New Zealand, Id each £l,.with'a minimum of 6d; payable beyond l?ew Zealand (except in Australia, the United States of America, or Canada), 6d each £1; payable to the United States of America and Canada 5d each 2s.
By telegraph, payable in New Zealand] same as by post, plus the telegrafph fee, Is Od,.if sent by ordinary telegram, or 3s if sent by urgent telegram j payable in the United Kingdom, aame as by post, plus, the cabling fee. Domestic orders, 9d each, including delivery fee. . POSTAL NOTES. . New commission rates are: Up to 2a 6d, Id; 3s to 15s, 2d; 20s, 3d. ; . TELEGRAMS. For inland ordinary telegrams the new rates are:— Week-days, Is for the first twelve words, and. Id each additional word; urgent telegrams double rates. Sundays and public holidays, double rate£.
