ST. MARY'S PEACE MEMORIAL.
BRIGHT PERFORMANCE BY CHILDREN. After ' some weeks .of diligent practice the children's performance*of "Snow White" was staged tot the Workers' Hall last evening to a crowded house, the accommodation being taxed' ticket-holders, and many were unable -to gain admission, The proceeds are estimated at about £35, and will be devoid to St. Mary's Peace Memorial.
The interpretation of the j>}»y was ably carried out by' the children fndihe Rudience were fully Appreciative of She bright performance given. The caste/ of principal characters was: Snow White, Mabel Crozier; Queen Myra, Ina Cantell, Prince Charming, Gladys Hillj-lard Chamberlain, Mary Garcia; Aunt Maud, Thelma Knott; Katie, Cecilia James. The elocutionary work of the children and also the general vocal parts were well done, and were a tribute to iU attention devoted to the preparatory work by Mrs. Stuart Russell, by whom the performance was arranged. The s staging and general effect was excellent, the performance passing off without a hitch from the first scene till the, final ensemble, when the flinging of "Good Night" concluded the performano*. Orchestral selections, given By the Boys' High Sohool orchestra during the evening, were a pleasicg feature. This combination was under the conductorship of Mr. N. Day. The work of playing accompaniments was ably carried out by Mrs. P. Boyd, and the stage management was undertaken by Mr. R. Day. At the conclusion of the entertain,ment, Rev. P. G. Harvie took .the. opportunity of congratulating the children on their work, and, his remarks tvett» ni* dorsed by the .hearty plaudits of those present. He also made tie sujjgßjition that the performance might he repeated and expressed the opinion that if such were the case another large attendant would be recorded. Mr. Harvie also tendered thanks to Mrs. Russell for he? untiring efforts, to the orchestra, aecompaniste, stage manager and all who assisted in the work. Presentations of bouquets to Mrs. Russell and wane of the principals then followed, the singing of the National Anthem terminating pro.ceedings. . ■ * ' Mrs. Russell desires to specially acknowledge the kindness of Mr. Hoffmann in lending a piano, to the orchestra for their assistance and to the ladies who provided sweets and refreshments.
