STRATFORD.
(Stratford Representative: \V. .J. Wilson, Bioddvmjv North. Tlione 338. I\o. Box 123.) July 22. About twenty-three members attended the first clas;; of the Stratford Workers' Educational Association last night, when the Rev. J. G. Castle, of Eltliam, commenced a series of lectures on political economy. The branch is now firmly cstabliftied, and a successful future is assured. The danger of allowing stock to wander about the streets of Stratford was again exemplified this afternoon, when a three months' old pet calf got in the way of Dr. Doris Gordon's car in Juliet Street and was run over. The accident happened on a fairly steep grade of the street, and the car was almost capsized by the impact. In this portion of the borough there are quite a number of pet sheep and calves, as we]] as other wandering stock, which are to be seen about the street's, causing a nuisance and a danger to motorists and others. Tickets for the Stratford Returned Soldiers' Association's re-union dinner to he held at the Medina Tea Rooms next Tuesday, are selling well, and there is every indication that the function will be an unqualified success. The sale of tickets will positively cease on Saturday next. The establishment of a branch of the Public Trust Office in Stratford has been fully justified, the office being already quite a busy place, particularly on sale days, when the farmers come to the town. The dance held by the Midhirst Oddfellows last night was a very successful affair, there being a good attendance of dancers. Music was supplied by Mrs. Bianchi, and Mr. Carroll performed the duties of M.C. in a capable manner. Tomorrow (Friday) evening, a social and dance will be held in the Stanley Road School as a farewell to Mr. and Mrs. H. Johnson. Farmers! Before the busy season be- [ gins, bring the family in to be photographed. A family group is always of value and interest. Take the present opportunity.
