SHAREHOLDERS' MEETING. At the thirty-seventh annual meeting of the New Plymouth S.ish and Door Company ( held on Wednesday afternoon, the chairman of directors (Mr. Newton King) presided over a large attendance of shareholders. According to the annual report received, the directors had recommended the payment of a dividend of 5s per share on all paid-up shares, and 3s per share on shares partially paid up; thia, with the payment already made, would aake a total dividend for the year of 8s 9d and 5s 3d on the respective shares. The business of the company showed a marked increase on former years, and had supplies of timber and cement been available, the Increase would have been much greater. The chairman, In speaking to the report, remarked on the very successful year experienced by the company, previous records having been excelled. The management and staff had done good work. The company's trading for the last' six months of the year had shown a most satisfactory increase over that of the preceding six months. The [ directors, In view of the good work done by both the office and factory staff had voted the'whole of the staff a bonus of 10 per cent, .which had been included in the past year's expenses. The chairman also pointed out that the amount allocated this year for bad debts was much smaller thun for some years. He anticipated that during the coming year tlieleases would be still much smaller. Mr. B. Cock seconded the motion, and the report was adopted. Messrs. W. F. Brooking and W. H. Skinner were re-elected directors, and Mr. E. Hlne was elected a director in place of Mr. W. Cutfleld (resigned). Mr H. Bally was re-elected auditor. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the manager and staff, on the motion of the chairman.

Replying, Mr. W. G. Reid read tho following resolution passed by the employees: "That Mr. Keid be asked to convey to the directors our appreciation of their generosity, and to assure them of our loyalty to the firm, and also our determination to do all In our power to further the interests of the company."

A complimentary vote to the directors In appreciation of their services terminated proceedings.
