PRICE OF BENZINE.
INCREASE IN TARANAKI • REASONS EXPLAINED. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) w „ „ „ Wellington. Last Night. Mr. S. G. Smith has been informed by the President of the lioard of Trade that the increase in the price of benzine in New Plymouth, ox the Donald McKay, from 30s 6d to 32s fld per case, lias been sanctioned by the Board oj Trade.
The reason gi/en wu* tiat tlu Vacuum Oil Company aiul -,lio o-.,her oil companies had produced invoices to show that they were selling benzine at a loss in Auckland and Wellington, and that the increases were justified to allow them to carry on business at a fair profit.
