The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated July 17, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— "Meat.—No chango In price for Imported meat. Owing to English supplies decreasing prices have advanced, beef Is sd, mutton Is 5%d, lamb Is 9d. "Butter.—Average price English butter is £lO 19s; small supplies Irish coming forward, creamery £lO, £l7.' "Cheese.. —Demand for English is limited at £8 12s, *£9 2s. Demand for Canadian is moderate, but prices have slightly declined, spot £7 18s, £8 2s, c.l.f. £7 12s, £7 143. "Hemp—Manila market firm and advancing. "J" grade July-August shipment £64; AugustOctober shipment sold £65 14s. Manila receipts January 1 to July 12, 052,000 against 603,000 same time last year. New Zealand's market very quiet, business being practically confined to parcels already shipped. High points sold £54; fair, £53; May-July shipment £53 and £sl respectively. "Wool sales have closed. Large attendance ,Home and Continental buyers. Fair demand for good combing merinos. Fine and medium crossbreds at an advance of 5 per cent, r coarse, neglected and largely withdrawn. Average current value New -Zealand crossbreds: Fine 2s 6d to 39 4d, medium Is 10d to 2s 2d, coarse Is 4d to Is 8d nominal."
