ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY'S. LAST NIGHT OF "THE HAYSEEDS." "Now, then, all you city folks, this is the last chance to see us in the fourth and last picture of our series, 'The Hayseeds' Backblocks Show,' "says Dad, in his address to the great general public. So it behoves the general public to hearken to Dad's advice and roll up for the last time to take a fond and humorous farewell of these royal entertainers. The same cast is featured in the Backblocks Show, and the same amount of real natural-born Australian humor throughout the production. The whole of the family is prominently featured in a series of mirth-provoking incidents that are on a par with the former triumphs of the Hayseeds, those "fair cautioni" that have made so many friends among theatre-goers. The final screening of "The Hayseeds" takes place at Everybody's to-night. THE EMPIRE. MARY PICKFORDD IN "THE HOODLUM" TO-NIGHT. Mary Pickford turns burglar for love in "The Hoodlum," her successor to "Daddy Long Legs." She also turns other things in her transition from spoiled little heiress to gutter urchin and slumdweller, and the real character of the gi:l is brought out by her contact with poverty and misery in the slums, and also with this real joy and happiness that exists even amognst' the most sordid surroundings. She finds that wealth had been robbing her of the greatest joys of life, and that dirtv-faced girls aie often happier than clean ones. The world's sweetheart justifies the title in "The Hoodlum." In it are ten Mary Pickfords, each new and refreshing. "The Hoodlum" commences a three-night season at The Empire to-night. To enable the children to. see this delightful picture there will be a special matinee at 3.30 to-morrow, when children will be admitted for sixpence. THE PEOPLE'S.
