KING COUNTRY WANTS.
BRIDGES AND ROAD WORKS. (By Wire. —Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. A deputation bearing a number of requests from the King Country was introduced to the Minister for Public Works (the Hon. .T. G. Coates) this morning by Mr. W. T. Jennings (Waitomo). The chairman of the Awakino County Council (Mr. Body) headed the deputation. The principle works for the completion of which assistance was sought were bridges at Mangahoe antf Kiritehere, Marokopa and Ngaptiraga, and the metalling of the main road from Pio Pio to Mahoenni. The matter of bridging the Mokati River, near the township, was also urged, Mr. Body stating that the Council was prepared to contribute towards the cost of this work, which was regarded as of the first importance. Mr. Contes, in replying, said that he would give every consideration to the representations made, as lie realised that the settlers had helped themselves by the raising of rates and loans.
