RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

SOUTH MAIL DELAYED. By Telegr&pb.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The South express did not reach Christchurch until 9.40 to-night, two and a half hours late. She was held up at Chertsey by an accident which happened to the afternoon train to Asliburton, the engine of that train being derailed at a loop line. A railway gang replaced the engine on the rails, and the express was then able to pass and resume the journey to Christchurch. The ferry steamer Maori was held back for passengers and mails, and sailed for Wellington at 10.35 p.m.
