STRATFORD FARMERS' CO-OP. ASSOCIATION.
The annual general meeting of the shareholders of the Stratford Farmers' Co-operative Association will be held in the Town Hall, Stratford, on Monday, 2flth inst. (commencing 11 a.m.). • The annual report for the year ended 31et May states, inter alia:—The butter working account shows a balance of £4446 10s od. A further payment of one penny per lb butter-fat for the year was made on 17th July, bringing the average payment to 18.42 d. Some further amounts are expected from the Equalisation Fund, which with the balance will be paid later on when charges have been adjusted. It is: expected the average pay-out for the season will be in the vicinity of Is 8d per lb butterfat. The cheese working accounts •show the following balances: Stratford £9225 3s, Toko £5718 Os lid, Huinga £5096 16s lOd, Douglas £334 0s 9d. Further payments for the year were made on 17th July, as follows: Stratford, Toko and Huinga 4d per lb., Douglas Id per lb Lutter-fat. The balance will be distributed when cheese in store has been shipped and charges therewith finally adjusted. The probable pay-out for the season will be in the neighborhood of 2s o%d per lb, Stratford, Toko and Huinga, Is lOd per lb pouglts. During the year a cheese factory was erected at Douglas, and cheese manufacture commenced on IMh January. At the request of the Huiakama suppliers the Huiakama property was sold early in the season.
The whey butter made amounted to 20 tons 19 cwt 3 qrs., creamery butter 23 tons 13 cwt. 1 qr. asd cheese 958 tons 19 cwt. There are 227 suppliers. .In connection with butter manufacture, the following figures are available from the report, last year's totals being given in parentheses: Lbs milk received, 10,396,857 (12,410,655); cream, 80,968 (87,224) average test 3.92 (3.9); lbs butter fat 437,446 (518,072); lbs butter 518,935 (615,121); cast of manufacture .1.92 d (1.71 d). In cheese manufactured, the milk received was as follows: Stratford 8,356,9131bs (in 1918-1919 7-.280.820 lbs); Toko 5,629,188 (4,«47,568); Huinga, 4.958,951 lbs (3,736,984 lbs); Douglas, 1,315,832 lbs (first year). The average test was: Stratford 4.2, Toko 3.99, Huinga 3 85, Douglas 3.96. The lbs of butter fat: Stratford 351.785; Toko 224,800; Huinga 190,768; Douglas 52,183. Lbs. cheese: Stratford 914,343, Toko 586,414, Huinga 510,863, Douglas 130,443. The cost of manufacture was as follows, a comparison being given with last year:, Stratford 1.14 d (1.08 d); Toko i.25d (1.27 d); Huinga 1.23 d (i:21d); Douglas 1.43 d (first year).
