WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) • July 19 The two-storey building hitherto known as Lawrence's buildings- is reported to have been sold to Mr. A. W. Ogle. y The Tennis Club held a dance in the Clifton Hall last Thursday evening which was attended by about forty couples, the music being provided by Mr. Fraser (piano) and Mr. Wells (violin), with extras By Mrs. S. Tate, Misses Clark, Therkleson and Nicol. Mr. W G. Smith and Mr. Tate acted as M.C.'s. The dance was by invitation to the club members' and their friends. The s.s. Kumara arrived in the roadstead at noon on Monday, and load'ng operations commenced immediately. It y is reported that Mr. Ridgley, licensee of the Waitara Hotel, has sold out his interests to an Auckland man. At the last sitting of the Borough Council a complaint was received from tho Clifton Football Club in respect to people taking a short cut across the football ground, thereby making a trayk, which is considered a danger to fli« players. The matter was left in the hands of the Works Committee, and the decision come to between the Club and the Committee is to erect barb wire entanglements on the west side of tne ground, the Council £0 find the wire and the Club to find the labor.
