GOVERNING QUESTION.

Theodore (Premier of Queensland), speaking at a farewell dinner, hoped England never thought Queensland would repudiate its obligations, but, on the other hand, Queensland, like any-other self-governing Dominion, would never abdicate the functions of self-government. Mr. Theodore passionately repudiated the action of capitalists in endtavoring to exercise control over the Government, and bitterly resented the attempt by a few persons to prevent other people investing in Queensland, and to intimidate them and his government from adopting a policy that was approved of by the City interests. It was unfortunate for Queensland particularly, and for Australia in general, that local political fights should be carried into the Ci'ty of London.
