Otauru Kid was In the lead all the way, but In the end just won by a head. Bonden took Otauru Kid to the lead at the first fence, and for a mile he wcs closely attended by Ethiopian and Falstaff. Four furlongs from home. Tempo moved forward, and Meltchlkoff, Sir Agnes, and Golden Petal improved their positions. Otauru IC'.d was still in the lead at the turn, hut Golden Petal and Sir Agnes both looked to have good chances. Golden Petal took the last fence barely, and Sir Agnes did not continue his run. Kercone finished fast, and got to within a head of Otauru Kid. Golden Petal was three lengths back, and Sir Agnes was fourth. Several horses were heavily supported in tho Liverpool Handicap. Trlnce Charlerot was one of the early leaders, with Hymarty well up. Below the distance, Parisian Diamond and Crowhurst took charge, but though the top-weight finished on, Crowhurst ran rather unkindly over tho last bit, and was beaten into third place by Koyal Exchange. Parisian Diamond won by a length, with two lengths between second and third. Hymarty was fourth, and Buddy fifth. The Second Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase was a great race. Mead and Notability, led past the stand, and round the back Mattock went to the front, while Ngakanul moved tato thud place. Mattock was still in front when the field came round to the water jump, with Bill lying second, and Notability was moving up fast, but ran off at the next fence. Mattock and Mead fell going down the back, and Bill and Sturdee were left with a commanding lead of Ngakanui. Sturdee ontjumped his rival at every fence, and was first over the last obstacle, but In the run nome he faded, and Bill won by a head. Ngakanul, # who lost his rider two fences from home," was remounted by a spectator and made a good finish of It with Nlcomar for third place, but the chestnut beat him by half a length. Theio was a big field In the Crofton Handicap, for which The Digger and Molyneaux received big supoprt. The Digger was the early leader, followed by Printemps, but before going two furlongs Bitters tan to the front. The next to move up was Mosthenes . At the water jump in front of the stand the order was Gladful, Guanaco, Harbor Light, First Line, and John Bunny. First Line ran up to the leader along the back, but with half » • mile to go Guanaco came fast and looked likely to win. First Line carried Guanaco out 'wide at the last fence, and was In the van when the final run was undertaken. First Line won by two lengths, with Gladful ten lengths away third, and Hjrbor Light a bad fourth. , . ~ _,. ~ A beautiful start was effected in the Winter Oats Handicap. Prince Hal was the first to show out, followed by Printemps, with All Over last.
