Shamrock •IV (Sir Thomas Liptor.'s challenger), won the first of the three_ races tor the America Cnn. 0 Tils Resolute (the American defender of tho Cnn) parted her throat halyards half a •mile from the turn and withdrew, leavinj; Shamrock IV. to win the race provided she covered the course within tlio time limit. Shamrock IV. had passed the Resolute when the latter's mainsail collapsed. RESOLUTE EASILY REPAIRED. Received July 10, H. 5 p.m. New York, July 13.
