MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.
MOTORIST SENT TO TRIAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christehurch, Last Night.' As a, result of a collision between a motor car and a tram car on the New Brighton road on May 22, in which William Arthur Griffen lost his life, Bruce Forsyth, the driver of the motor car, was to-day committed for trial by Mr. Day, S.M., on a charge of manslaughter. The evidence was the same as that given at the inquest. It was alleged the accused was under the influence of liquor, and was driving at a rapid rate without lights, though one witness deposed th:»', a few moments before the accident the car had a faint light in front, and one at the back. Before the crash the ta:l light went out, due, in the opinion of the witness, to a bump on tile road.
