SOUTH ISLAND TO NEW PLYMOUTH: MAPOUIUKA TO BE REINSTATED. When Mr. Aicken, general mejiager oi the Union S.S. Company, was 'ln New Plymouth a fortnight ago, the Taranakl Chamber of Commerce waited upon him with a view to seeing if anything could be done to improve the shipping servicds between New Plymouth and Wellington, and to reinstate, if possible, the Mapourilea on the run Lyttelton-Wellington-New, Plymouth, a fortnightly service which, with the other ships from and to Wellington, fully met the needs of Taranaki. In order to make the Service pay and ensure its continuance, members of th» deputation assured Mr. Afi..<m that a reasonable increase in, freights would not be objected to.
