PLUNKET SOCIETY.
The Plunket Society held its monthly meeting on Monday last, Mrs. »C. H. Burgess presiding. The financial statement showing a balance of £352 lils 3d was read and passed. Accounts wer.' passed for payment. The resignations of Mesdames Ro.-i and Chaney were accepted with regret The' secretary was instructed to write and ask Mrs. G. King and Mrs Bailey 10 All the vacancies.
Nurse Williams reported: June 1 to June B—Babies under care, 158; mothers preparing milk in homes, 98; visits to houses, 65; visitors to rooms, 74; babies to rooms, 05. June Bto June 30—Mothers to rooms, 53; babies to rooms, 50; total, mothers 147; babies 262.
It was decided that the second Plunket Nurse should commence duty on 21st August. The secretary was instructed to write to the Stratford Society and thank Nurse McLean for her work in New Plymouth during Nurse Williams' absence on leave, and also to write to renew the tenancy of the rooms in Brougham Street. An executive, consisting of Mesdames Ambury, St-andisli, 11. Russell and Miss Wade, with president and secretary, was appointed. Mesdames D. Brown, Nicholson, and H Russell were appointed a sub-committee to send out notices to try and get in subscriptions as the expenses of the Society will be so considerably increased by the appointment of the second nurse Sewing meetings of the Society, at which all members are asked to help, will be held on the last Wednesday in ever/ month. Mrs. Hickman Russell was appointed converter. Votes of thanks were passed to Mrs. Burgess for her gift of a linen cot cover, to Mrs. Weston for the printed rest room cards (which the chemists of the town are so kindly showing), and to Mr. Christiansen for loan of furniture for fii; rest the Winter Show.
