PRICE OF TIMBER.
INCREASE AUTHORISED. The Board of Trade advises that authority 'has recently been given to Auckland and Waikato sawmillers and timber merchants to increase the prices of timber by amounts ranging from 2s per IJO for o.b. classes to 3s 6d per 100 for firstclass kauri. These prices, it is explained, are necessitated on account of the increase in wages recently awarded by the court to sawmill workers in ths districts. However, increasing prices of timber are inevitable, owing to the great demand and the shortage of supplies. This condition is one that investors can take advantage of, for The Great Western Timber Company, Ltd., is being formed to cut out 10,000 acres of the finest forest in New Zealand. A full description of the enterprise, illustrated with recent photographs of the Okarito timber country, will be found in the prospects. It is worth Teading. Obtainable from any branch of the Bank of New Zealand, or from Mr. J. S. S- Medley, Egmont Street, New Plymouth, or Messrs. Frank Graijiun sad Sen, flhristdawht -
