LoTds Denman and Islington, Mr. Mathew Nathan, Sir Joseph Ward, Sir James Mills, and the Agents-General of Australia and Canada attended the Colonial Instituted farewell luncheon to Sir Thomas Mackenzie.

Mr. Lagden, in proposing their guest's health, said Sir Thomas Mackenzie had taken a great part in the country's life during the past eight years. He did great things to comfort wounded New Zealand soldiers, and the King had been pleased to confer a high honor upon him. They fully appreciated Sir Thos. Mackenzie's wonderful personality, and they were grateful to New Zealand for sending him here. He also welcomed Sir James Alien. Sir Thomas Mackenzie, in replying, laid he thought the future of Britain end the Dominions would surpass all expectations. He regretted the increase m the postage rates, and advocated their reduction in the best interests of the Empire's trade.
