COURSING.
NEW ZEALAND WATERLOO CUP. Considerable interest is being taken locally in Jhe New Zealand Waterloo Cup meeting, to be held -at Glen Avon, Smart Road, at the end of the month. The coursing will extend over three days, and will be controlled by the New Plymouth Club. The committee are making every effort to secure the success of the meeting. Members and officials recognise that holding a gathering or this description is an t ambitious undertaking, but they are not dismayed. On Monday evening Mr. T. Richards presided at a meeting, when nominations were reported to be coming in very freely, several well-known owners having accepted with their dogs. The "drive" for hares held recently proved very successful,. as, although the weather was rather unfavorable, the sports who braved the elements, secured a good bag, | and If similar success crowns their next effort in. this direction the club will bare an auiplo supply of hares. The grounds are also receiving special attention, a working bee having been arranged to carry out some improvements that should further increase the popularity of the locality with dog owners.
