RECORD COMPANY INVESTMENTS. By Telegraph.—Pres3 Assn—Copyright. London, July 12. During die first six months of 1820 there were 0415 new companies registered, with a capital of. £448,738,00(1, surpassing the record for the second half-year or 11)11), when the registrations numbered 5414 with' a capital of £252,734,000. Tlie new textile companies number 643, with a capital of £116,000,000. LOAN & MERCANTILE REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Hawera branch), report for the week ending, 10th July:— At Kakaramea, on Monday, a. fair yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward. We quote: Best dairy cows £22, others £l2 10s to £l7 10s, 20-mouths steers £4 19s ewes (in lamb) 31s M, lambs 19s. On Wednesday, at Elthnm, we had a fair yarding. Bidding was slack with store cattle, hqwever we quitted most of the yarding before leaving. We quote: Store cows (medium) £5 to £6, dairy, cows £l3 ]os to £l9 10s, 2-year steers (bad colors) £5 ids empty heirers £7 10s, yearling heifers £4 ISs, steers £2 13s Od, fat 2-!ooth m.s. £2 2s, lambs (good) 24s 3d to 24s Bd, store pigs At Hawera, on Thursday, we had a good j yarding, particularly,dairy cattle. There was; a good attendance, competition' belug fairly keen with all classes of stock, and a satis-'/ factory sale resulted. There was a large attendance of buyers, and we report a rerv brisk sale. The herd of 90 cows averaged £2O 10s,. prices ranging from £ll 10s to £36 10s, empty cows £2 to £9 10s. On Saturday we held our Hawera horse fair Owing to the very boisterous weather the advertised number did not come forward, but in spite of the conditions a satisfactory sale resulted. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co I Ltd. (Stratford) report as follows : On.Tuesday, July 6th.,'our usual fortnightly sale - was held at Stratford. There was a good yarding with large attendance of buvers, and n good sale resulted. Heifers, both in calf and empty, continue to sell well, while young steers are firming. Prices realised were: Weaners: Steers 15s 6d to 32s Gd for poor stuff, better quality made £2 ss, heifers £» to £4 13s, £6 10s for Jerseys, ranptv heifers £« 15s to £8 18s, fat cows £9 15s, store cows £5 15s, fir-calf heifers £l2 to £l3 10s, dairy cows £l2 to £lO 15s. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated July 10, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— "Meat.—Upon removal of control early this week prices for English beef and mutton increased to Is 7%d and 2s, respectively, but owing to a poor demand, prices much lower; beef Is 3d; mutlon and lamb, Is 3%d. No change in price for imported meat. , "Butter.—Average price, English' Witter is £l6 16s. Irish is in active demand with short supplies, particularly for best quality. Supplies have been delayed on account of transport difficulties; creamery, £ls, £ls 15s. Danish production continues large, considerable quantity going to America "Cheese.—Demand for English is limited with no change In price. Canadian Is in good demand; quotations, c.i.f, £7 12s 6d. £7 14s "Hemp.—Manila market quiet, but firmer. Sales include "J" grade April-June shipment; £59 10s; August-October shipment, £'G3 10s; present quotations are 10s higher. New Zealand market very quiet. Quotations slightly lower, spot high points, £55 sellers; fair, £54; May-July shipment, £54 and £52 respectively. "Honey.—Market quiet. . Nominal quotations are 85s and 955, according to quality.
